Manchester Metropolitan partners with business and industry, local and national government and policy-makers, public sector organisations, community groups, charities and NGOs, schools, colleges and the wider public in Manchester and beyond, to develop successful economic and societal impact.
The Manchester Writing School at MMU is one of the most successful literary centres running in the UK today, and home to the country’s largest postgraduate English and Creative Writing community, with ex-Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, as The School’s Creative Director. Opening in 2020, MMU’s new Poetry Library will widen access to poetry and support the creation and performance of new writing at every level from primary school to professional publication.
The University was named as one of the UK’s greenest universities, ranked second in this year’s People and Planet university league table.
LILAC 2021 will take place at the Brooks Building which won the Highly Commended award for Best Sustainable Venue at the CHS (Conference and Hospitality Show) Awards in 2016. Following this, Manchester Metropolitan University won both Best Sustainable and Green Venue Award at the CHS Awards in 2018. With outstanding specialist facilities and spacious public areas, the Brooks Building has a sense of stunning light and scale with five storeys of glass.
Joining instructions will be available a few weeks before the conference.
Wireless internet access is available campus-wide. If you are visiting from an institution that participates in the eduroam scheme, you can login to the secure eduroam service using your usual username and password. Visitor wifi is also available at MMU.
The networking evening will be held at the conference venue on Wednesday 7th April from 17:30-20:00. Food and drink will be provided. The prestigious conference awards will be be presented around the venue’s Spanish steps at 18:00.
The conference dinner will take place on Thursday 8th April from 19:30 (TBC) and will be held at Radisson Blu Edwardian hotel, set inside the historic and iconic, pallazo-style Grade II listed Free Trade Hall. It is located in the centre of Manchester close to accommodation venues and transport links.
After dinner, there will be music and dancing until 23:30.
